ABA Foundation Diversity Scholarship Application

The American Bar Association (ABA) has created a scholarship program to promote diversity in the legal profession by providing financial assistance for law school tuition and other expenses.

The American Bar Association (ABA) has a diversity scholarship program which provides $1,000 in scholarships to minority law students. The deadline to apply is November 30th. Scholarships are available for African-American, Hispanic-American, Native American and Asian-American law students.

The mission of the ABA Diversity Scholarship Fund is to increase diversity within the American Bar Association and the legal profession by awarding scholarships for law school studies.

Who is eligible?

• The scholarship is open to law students, lawyers or law school graduates who are members of a racial minority group or an underrepresented gender within the legal profession. The individual must be enrolled in or graduated from an ABA-accredited law school for the entire academic year.
• Eligible candidates must have a declared major or course of study relevant to the transportation, travel, and tourism industry. Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay discussing the role they hope to play in advancing the future of the transportation, motorcoach, travel, and tourism/hospitality industry.
• Diversity is an important component of a successful organization. It leads to innovation, promotes creativity and results in better understanding of the needs of diverse audiences. The ABA Diversity Scholarship Program will award scholarships to law students who have demonstrated commitment to diversity in their careers, classrooms and communities.

Who can apply for this scholarship?

The ABA Scholarship Program is open to any law school applicant who, during their first year of enrollment, has completed at least one semester of law study and is enrolled in, or accepted into, their second year of study at an ABA-approved law school.

Grants may also be awarded to minority students participating in an executive development program sponsored by the ABA or the National Bar Association
